Week 9: Us

This week we learned about the five senses, our bodies, nutrition and exercise. Joshua practiced blend ladders and sight words.

Week 8: Turtle

Last week was rough and we only did school a few days. So we just continued learning about turtles this week. We also took a break from Math-U-See this week because Joshua was getting really frustrated with the adding in Lesson 13.
I found this great site called School Sparks with wonderful printables for all areas of learning for preschool and kindergarten, as well as assessments. I printed out some math pages to do some review and fun activities and to give Joshua a break from his math lessons. I printed and cut some sight word flashcards and blend ladders. We started reading the Bob Books and Joshua was very excited to read the first one all by himself (so was his mom!).

These are some neat blocks that Nikolas got for his birthday. They both love playing with them.

At the zoo.

That is a turtle!

Love this turtle!

Lego "dinosaur".

Some journal pages.

The Rebellious Preschooler

Nikolas has been very moody when it comes to any kind of school or learning time. I am letting him do his own thing for the most part. When he actually is in the mood to do some school he does really well with coloring and letter tracing and counting. He plays educational games on the computer and loves to read books and be read to. He did enjoy painting but he did not want to do the craft Joshua was working on, he wanted to do his own thing. I printed out some activities from Carisa at 1+1+1=1 about Toy Story and Monster Trucks. Hopefully it will get him a bit more involved. I made some hair gel/food coloring bags to help him make letters or numbers or face prints. These did not last long because Joshua thought it would be fun to bite one of the bags. Fun, nonetheless.

My Baby's Birthday

My baby is now FOUR years old. It has flown by. Here are some pictures, mostly of presents. But we had a wonderful party with some of Nikolas' friends. It was nice to celebrate with friends.
I planned on making him a cake but he saw this ooey-gooey fudge cake at Costco and had to have it. It was good and super rich!

Making a wish (I am  mid-word and looking a little duck-lip-y).

Joshua helping Nikolas with presents.

Look at that dimple! and the pizza sauce.

Still with fudgey face.

Lots of wonderful gifts!

Pretty rocks and books about them from Great Grandma. (These will be great for Rocks and  Jewels lessons down the road.)

I had an entire load of NEW clothes to wash!

Cars 2 puzzle!

My friend made Yoshi and Toad for Nikolas, love them!
Toad!

Our first real Lego's!

Goodies for the big brother, too!

Underwear and clothes!

They both have been begging for a watch, found these super cool Lego Buzz and Woody watches on Zulily for $7 each!

Each watch came with a Lego Buzz or Woody!
